Unbreakable, about a security guard named David Dunn (Bruce Willis) who becomes the sole survivor of a train wreck, posed the question of what would happen if superheroes were real. At the insistence of a mysterious, rare-comic-book collector named Elijah Price (Samuel L. Jack-son), who suffers from a medical condition that makes his bones shatter on the slightest impact, Dunn comes to believe that he has super strength and is impervious to injury or illness. Not only that, he has the ability to see or sense the evil deeds of others simply by touching them. The Unbreakable score, by James Newton Howard, was the second collaboration between Shyamalan and Howard, following their work together on The Sixth Sense. The Unbreakable score experience was unlike any the composer had had before. “Night sat there and story-boarded the whole movie for me,” Howard said. “I’ve never had a director do that for me. He wanted something that was very different, very distinctive, that immediately evoked the movie when people heard it.” Howard and Shyamalan chose to simplify the score, and minimized the number of instruments (strings, trumpets, and piano), with limited orchestrations. Some compositions were recorded in a converted church in London. “You could have recorded the same music in a studio in Los Angeles, and it would have been great, but there is something about the sound of that church studio,” Howard said. “It's definitely more misterioso.” James Newton Howard is an American composer, conductor, and producer. He has scored more than 100 films and is the recipient of a Grammy Award, Emmy Award, and eight Academy Award nominations. His scores include The Fugitive, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Hunger Games film series. The mesmerizing story of a young woman in Victorian London who, haunted by the ghosts of Jack the Ripper's victims, is set on a terrifying path to salvation. The real monsters are men. London 1888, and Jack the Ripper is terrorizing the people of the city. Evelyn, a young woman disfigured by her dangerous work in a matchstick factory, with nowhere to go, does not know what to make of her new position as a maid to the Elephant Man in London Hospital. Evelyn wanted to be locked away from the world like he is, shut away from the filth and dangers of the streets. But in Joseph Merrick, the Elephant Man, she finds a gentle kindred who does not recoil from her and who understands her pain. When the murders begin, however, Joseph and Evelyn are haunted nightly by the ghosts of the Ripper's dead, setting Evelyn on a path to facing her fears and uncovering humanity's worst nightmares. Spot was a good-looking dog and everyone in the Klondike wanted the canine - except the two men that owned him. They tried selling him, they tried leaving him behind, and Spot seemed content to keep them guessing how he was always able to find them. HISTORY TELLS US: In 1888, the elusive serial killer, Jack the Ripper, terrorized the Whitechapel District of London. Scotland Yard was baffled. But, that same year, Jack met his match when he crossed paths with the dreadfully evil ...really awful...Count Dracula. On July 22, 1934, notorious bank robber John Dillinger was shot "dead" by the FBI in front of Chicago's Biograph Theater. But, on September 17, 1941, in Miami Beach, Florida, John Dillinger met with former 'King of Chicago', mobster Al Capone, to plan the biggest heist of his career. In 1803, President Thomas Jefferson completed the Louisiana Purchase with France's Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. The price was four cents per acre. But, in 2011, Napoleon decided that he wanted his land back. Master storyteller Michael B. Druxman turns history and literature topsy-turvy in six unforgettable tales. Titles include "The Old Coot", "Dracula Meets Jack the Ripper", "Big Al and Desperate Dan", "Napoleon Brandy", "The Space Ship", and "Bugsy's Boys". 1. Language: English. Narrator: Fred Frees. Meet Jack. Jack Rossiter. "I'm 27 years old, single, and live with my best mate Matt. Matt and I started hanging out when we were eight. Life was simpler then. Our idea of fashion was polyester. I told him I wanted to be a spy, and he asked me who I'd marry. I imagined falling in love with a girl so perfect I couldn't even guess her name. Things have changed since then. I did fall in love for a while, but it didn't work out. And single is good, single is fun."Meet Amy. "Sometimes in my darker moments I've thought about applying to go on Blind Date. 'She's gorgeous, she's from London, come in Amy Crosbie!' (Wolf whistling and applause.) Actually, it's a bit of a worry. I think it's my warped way of telling myself something's got to change. It's been six months since I last had sex. Six months! I mean, I've got my own flat, I've got A levels...so come on down, Mr Right. At least it would get my mother off my back."Now find out what happens when they meet each other. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Jack Davenport, Natasha Little.
